Japanese Government announces MEXT Scholarship 2018/2019 Deadlines | Past Questions. MEXT Scholarship (Research, Undergraduate, College of Technology and Specialized Training College) application is now open. Here, we have updated the deadline for the application, the past questions and the universities participating.
The Government of Japan has made it an annual event to give Nigerians the opportunity to study in Japan. Consequently, this is in form of the MEXT Scholarship program which covers all the academic expense of the student.
Nonetheless, this scholarship is for Nigerian Undergraduates and post graduates who wish to further their education in Japan.
- For Undergraduates Students– Students who wish to continue their studies in Japanese universities for undergraduate degrees. Also, applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1994 and April 1, 2002. (between 17 to 25 years of age.
- Research Students– Post graduate students who wish to conduct research in Japan for PH.D/Master’s degrees or non-degree course in respective fields. Also, applicants generally must have been born on or after April 2, 1984 (under 35 years of age)

- College of Technology Students– Students who wish to study in Japan as students at a college of technology, Mechanical/Electronic Engineering, etc. Also, applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1994 and April 1, 2002.(between 17 to 25 years of age)
- Specialized Training College Students– Students who wish to study in Japan as a student at a specialized training college, Technology, Business, Fashion, Culture, etc. Also, applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1994 and April 1, 2002 (between 17 to 25 years of age)

Recruitment for those arriving in Japan next April is made between April and May of the previous year.Hence, first screening is between May and June. This is by the Japanese Embassies or Consulates General. As the application process and specific schedule differ according to the country of your nationality, please inquire the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in your country for details. DO NOT send any application documents directly to MEXT in Japan.
